Hockessin Firefighters Respond To Pennsylvania Fire

New Garden Township, Pa – At approximately 1:30 a.m Hockessin  firefighters were dispatched to assist Avondale, Pa. and other Chester County fire departments on a building fire on Newark Road. Tanker 19, the Engine and the Ambulance made the response with a combination of career and volunteer personnel. First arriving units found an estimated 350 tons of hay on fire with flames extending to two buildings and equipment parked on site. Due to the lack of water supply several additional companies from Chester and Lancaster Counties were called in. Hockessin’s station was covered by Tanker 29 (Port Penn) and several companies from Chester, Lancaster and Delaware Counties covered other vacant fire stations for the duration of the call. Hockessin units spent about four hours in service for this incident, additional photos will follow later today.
