Man Leads Police On Pursuit In Stolen Vehicle

The Dover Police Department arrested Malachai DeBruce (44) following a long vehicle pursuit on Sunday afternoon.  While on patrol in the area of N. DuPont Highway at the Dover Mall, a Dover Police Officer observed a vehicle that was reported stolen out of New Castle County being operated by DeBruce.  When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, DeBruce fled northbound in the stolen vehicle.  DeBruce fled north on North DuPont Highway towards Smyrna and proceeded onto Route 1 Northbound at the intersection just north of New Carter Road.  The Delaware State Police aided in stopping the pursuit near exit 136 when they were able to force the suspect to one lane and deploy Stop Sticks to safely deflate all four tires on the vehicle, bringing the pursuit to an end.

DeBruce surrendered to police without incident upon stopping.  DeBruce was committed to JTVCC after failing to post bond ont he following charges:
-Receiving Stolen Property (Vehicle)
-Disregarding a Police Officer Signal
-29 Additional Traffic Offenses
