Colin Bonini On Delaware Students Returning to School

Bonini Releases Statement on Delaware
Students Returning to School

colin-bonini2Dover, DE – This week many students across Delaware are returning to the classroom.  Senator Colin Bonini, candidate for governor, released a statement on the occasion:

“As thousands of students return to school this week, I want to wish them the best, and hope that they all have the opportunity to excel in the classroom. Yet, I also have some concerns about Delaware’s education system.

In many cases our state’s education system is failing our children.  Less than 1 in 5 public school graduates are ready for work or college.  Many of Delaware’s public school graduates require remedial coursework when they enter college.  We consistently rank in the bottom 10 in SAT scores in the country and many companies in Wilmington encourage their employees to live across state lines so their kids can go to out-of-state schools.

More than a generation Democrat control in Dover has caused this problem, and it is going to take bold reforms to right the ship.  Delaware needs the political will and courage to change the status quo and bring necessary reform.  I have the will.  I have the political courage.

I wish all of Delaware families, teachers, students and staff in our institutions of learning a successful school year!”
