dispatched to I-295 Eastbound on the Delaware Memorial Bridge for a motor vehicle crash, according to New Castle County Paramedic Spokeswoman Yvonne T. Russell.

Russell said that when County Paramedics arrived they found a 63-year-old man trapped in his vehicle. It took firefighters approximately 40 minutes to free the patient the man who was suffering injuries to his head, right arm, right leg, and left hand, according to Russell.

Once firefighters freed the man he was transported with County Paramedics to the Christiana Hospital via an ambulance from the Holloway Terrace Fire Company. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport.

The Delaware River and Bay Authority Police were on scene and are investigating the crash.
