Mega Adoption Event Finds New Homes For 1134 Homeless Pets

Wilmington –  The Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) held the tri-state area’s largest pet adoption event this weekend, placing 1134 homeless animals with forever families. The Mega Adoption Event at Bellevue State Park attracted more than 7000 people looking to give a deserving pet a second chance.

The BVSPCA’s first Mega event, which was held in Philadelphia in December 2016, placed 886 animals in three days. This weekend’s event reached 857 in just the first day. The final count of 1134 adoptions in two days far surpassed the organization’s goal of 800 adoptions.

“Our objective with an event of this scale is to attract adopters who might not otherwise consider a rescued pet,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA Chief Executive Officer. “The response from the community was phenomenal.”

The Mega Adoption Event was made possible in large part thanks to a generous grant from the Petco Foundation.
