Fire At Delaware Recycling Center This Afternoon

Wilmington –  Just after 5:00 pm this afternoon Fire crews from Holloway Terrace Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company, Minquadale Fire Company, Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Five Points Fire Company Minquas, along with Elsmere Fire Companyresponded to the 1100 block of Lambson Drive for reports of a commercial structure fire.

Arriving crews found an ongoing fire in a Delaware Recycling Center building with extension to a second building. Crews worked to locate the fire while heavy smoke was pushing out the back of the building.

Command reported a small explosion. It’s was believed to be an electrical box or transformer that had exploded. No injuries were reported.

Command is reporting that they need Delmarva to restore power because there is still fire in the trash compactor. They need to reverse the belt so they can get at the fire.
