Troopers: Man Arrested After Crashing Into Tree

Greenwood- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Houston man after he was involved in a single vehicle crash and found to be under the influence of alcohol for the 5th time, according to Public Information Officer Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred at approximately 4:53 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 as troopers were dispatched to the 9000 block of Memory Road, Greenwood in reference to a single vehicle crash into a tree.

Upon the troopers arrival, contact was made with the operator, Daniel E. Taylor, 48 of Houston, and a DUI investigation ensued after an odor of alcohol was detected, according to Jaffe. A computer check revealed that Taylor had four previous DUI convictions, added Jaffe.

Daniel Taylor was transported back to Troop 5 in Bridgeville where he was charged with 5th Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Inattentive Driving, Drive/Move or Knowingly Permit an Unsafe Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle in Violation of Restrictions, and Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, according to Jaffe.

Taylor was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $6103.00 cash only bond.
