Wilmington Apartment Building Ravaged By Fire

Wilmington – On Tuesday night crews from the Wilmington Fire Department, along with New Castle  County Paramedics responded to the 400 block of DuPont street for reports of a house fire.

Arriving units found heavy fire shooting from the roof. Initial attempts to fight the fire from the interior were abandoned when conditions deteriorated.  Command then ordered the all firefighters out of the building and called for a totally defensive posture. The fire was then fought from the outside of the structure with the help of a tower truck.

Fire marshal’s were called to the scene and are investigating.

Early reports that someone may be trapped appear to be unfounded. Two individuals that had made their way to the roof as the blaze began were rescued by firefighters.
