Stubborn Vehicle Fire In Newark Knocks Out Power To Thousands

Newark – Firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder responded to the 3000 block of Ogletown Road for reports of vehicle that was on fire after it struck a utility pole.

Upon arrival, crews  faced electrical hazards from a pole and wires down as well as a fuel-fed fire, according to a post on Aetna’s Facebook page.

Aetna units just cleared a stubborn vehicle fire resulting from a motor vehicle collision in the 3000 block of Ogletown Rd. Crews faced electrical hazards from a pole and wires down as well as a fuel-fed fire.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away.

Delmarva Power reported that over 2,000 people were without power after the vehicle slammed into the pole.

Power was restored to most customers between 2:30 and 3:00 Monday morning.

No injuries were reported
