More Photos From Today’s Middletown’s Willow Grove Mill Fire

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this afternoon’s house fire in Middletown, was accidental.

Fire crews from across New Castle County were called to the 900 block of Lansdowne Rd, in the Willow Grove Mill Townhouse community, shortly after 1 pm today for a report of a house on fire. Upon arrival Fire Department found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of a middle of the row townhouse and extending to the roof.

State Fire Marshal Deputies were called to the scene to conduct an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. Investigation revealed that the fire originated outside the residence in a mulch bed and spread to the siding. Deputies determined that the cause of the fire was discarded smoking material.

Damage was estimated at $250,000 dollars. No injuries were reported. The homeowner and neighboring residents are being assisted by The Red Cross of Delamarva.

It’s believed that four adults and two children have been displaced. we’re working to confirm that.
