Delaware Teens Put Through Their Paces At State Police Academy

Last week eighteen young men and women from across the state of Delaware, endured a week long training regimen which parallels much of what a Delaware State Trooper would undergo while attending the State Police Training Academy.

This years program, the 47th year for Trooper Youth Week,  was once again sponsored by the Delaware American Legion.  Without the Legion’s support this program would not be possible, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.

In addition to the rigors of the daily physical fitness schedule, the cadets attended classes that ranged from crash investigation to evidence detection and fraud investigation.

During the entire week the cadets took up residence at the academy to give them a better understanding about the profession of law enforcement and what it takes to become a police officer.

The Delaware State Police and The American Legion held Trooper Youth Week Graduation Ceremony Friday afternoon, June 29, 2018, at the Delaware State Police Training Academy in Dover Delaware.

At the ceremony Robert M. Coupe , Secretary, Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Colonel Nathaniel McQueen Jr. – Superintendent, Delaware State Police and Department Commander MaryAnna Moderhak -Department of Delaware American Legion, Inc. congratulated the cadets and offered them words of encouragement.
