Man Serving 15-Day Sentence At Gander Hill Dies In Custody

On Tuesday, July 31, 2018, a 35-year-old inmate housed at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institute (A.K.A Gander Hill Prison) in Wilmington passed away. James Hutchinson (DOB 8/20/1982) was pronounced dead at 8:06 a.m. His family has been notified.

Hutchinson, of Townsend, Delaware was serving a 15-day sentence for violation of probation for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.

He began serving his sentence on 7/27/2018.

Hutchinson’s body was turned over to the State Division of Forensic Science, as is standard procedure.

Foul play is not suspected.
