Dover Police Say Man Tried To Rob Closed KFC

The Dover Police Department arrested 27-year-old Antonio Stevens after an attempted armed robbery on Sunday night, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said a 38-year-old female victim was standing outside of the Kentucky Fried Chicken located at 1000 Forrest Avenue, for a ride home from work when she was approached by Stevens.

Stevens demanded that she open the store, but she advised him that she did not have access to do so, said Hoffman. Stevens then demanded her personal belongings, eventually pointing what appeared to be a handgun at her.

After a brief struggle, Stevens fled. Arriving officers searched the area for Stevens and took him into custody following a brief foot chase, according to Hoffman. Officers also located a mask and BB gun that were used in the incident.

Stevens was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $6,500 cash bond on the following offenses:

-Attempted Robbery 1st Degree
-Wearing a Disguise During Commission of Felony
-Resisting Arrest
