Newark Police And Community Dance It Up At National Night Out

Tuesday’s National Night Out event gave locals an opportunity to meet with local police officers and firefighters at the fun-filled event on Academy Street.

Newark Police S.W.A.T officers showed off all of their special gear, other officers worked the hot dog grill or mingled with the crowd, while Cpl. Aaron Olicker (A.K.A. Free Hugs Guy)  danced with residents in the street.
In addition to all of the police gear and dancing, Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder showed off several of its fire engines and other vehicles.

Topping off the night,  members of the community watched a State Police K-9 demonstration and an Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder extrication demonstration.

The University of Delaware Police, County Probation Officers, and the UDEL Ice Cream truck were also at the event.

Tonight’s ‘National Night Out’ is part of a national effort to promote a strong police and community partnership.
