Overturned Trash Truck Shuts Down Summit Bridge Road This Morning

Middletown – At 4:21 this morning crews from the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, along with New Castle County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police responded to Summit Bridge Road at Bethel Church Road for a rollover crash involving a garbage truck.

Upon arrival, crews reported that the truck was leaking fluids into a drain. This prompted a response from DNREC’s Environmental Response Team. Crews have been working throughout the morning to clear the scene.

Update: 7:30 am: All crews just cleared, all lanes reopened.

The driver of the truck was evaluated by paramedics but it’s not clear if they were transported to the hospital.
