Troopers Release Name Of Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident With DART Bus

Magnolia– The Delaware State Police have identified the name of the individual who was killed in a crash on Friday, October 19, 2018, on Irish Hill Road (SR 31) at the intersection of Lexington Mill Road (CR 378) as 62-year-old Paul J. Schiller of Felton.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Magnolia- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier this afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred at approximately 12:13 p.m., on Friday, October 19, 2018, when a Ford DART Transit Bus was traveling westbound on Irish Hill Road approaching Lexington Mill Road. A Honda Motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Irish Hill Road towards the same intersection. The DART bus began to turn left onto Lexington Mill Road, directly into the path of the motorcycle, said Jaffe. The Motorcycle collided with the front of the DART bus, where both vehicles came to a final rest.

The operator of the Motorcycle, a 62-year-old man from Felton was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

The operator of the DART bus, a 55-year-old male from Smyrna was properly restrained and transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with minor injuries. There were no other occupants on the bus at the time of the crash.

Irish Hill Road (SR 31) at the intersection of Lexington Mill Road (CR 378) was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

This crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
