Teens Knocked Man To Ground In Robbery Attempt, Bystanders To The Rescue

On Sunday, November 4, at approximately 9:00 pm, in the area of 18th and N. Van Buren Street, Wilmington Police responded to a report of an attempted robbery. Police learned, through the course of their investigation, that three juvenile males on bicycles surrounded a 58-year old male victim, in an attempt to steal his bicycle.

The male victim was pushed off of his bicycle and he sustained minor injuries as a result. Bystanders, who witnessed the event, assisted the victim causing the three juveniles to flee before they could take the bike from the victim.

Through investigative means, Wilmington Police Officers were able to obtain photos of these juveniles and released the photos in real time to all officers. A short time later, officers from the Uniformed Services Division were in the area of 8th and Washington Streets when they observed the same juveniles on bicycles.

All three juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 16, were identified and were each charged with Attempted Robbery First Degree and Conspiracy Second Degree.
