Authorities Update Pedestrian Struck On Route 13 near I-495

At approximately 6:50 this morning, New Castle County Paramedics, Minquadale Fire Company and Delaware State Police helicopter responded for a pedestrian struck in the area of North DuPont Highway and the onramp to Interstate 495.

On arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found the patient, 35-year-old female, in care of emergency medical technicians, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne Russell. The patient suffered injuries to her pelvis and was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being transported to Christiana Hospital via Delaware State Police helicopter. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport.

Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.

Update: The I-495 NB on-ramp from N Dupont Highway has reopened.

New Castle – At 6:51 this morning Rescue crews from the Minquadale Fire Company, along with New Castle County Paramedics, Delaware State Police and Trooper 4 responded to Route 13 at I-495 for reports of a pedestrian struck.

Not much is known about the patient’s injuries. We do know that they were flown to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hosptial in Stanton.

The road remains closed as Troopers investigate.
