Police: Man Charged After Allegedly Displaying Gun, Released On Unsecured Bond

On Wednesday, November 29, 2018, Milford Police arrested Mike A. Chavez, 18 of Milford, after a warrant was obtained following an incident in which a handgun was allegedly displayed to two victims, according to Sgt. Robert Masten.

Masten said on at approximately 4:08 pm a vehicle with two occupants was stopped at a traffic light in the area of South DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) and Lakeview Avenue (SR 36). While at the traffic light a vehicle pulled up next to the victims and displayed a handgun in what was believed to be an attempt to intimidate the pair, said Masten.

The suspect vehicle then followed the victim’s vehicle before eventually disappearing. Masten said Chavez was identified as the individual displaying the handgun and he was later taken into custody at a residence on New Street. A subsequent search following the arrest also found Chavez to be in possession of Marijuana. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Menacing and Possession of Marijuana. His was set at $2000.00 unsecured by Justice of the Peace Court #7.

He is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 12.06.2018 for a Preliminary Hearing.
