House Fire Displaces 8 Early Saturday Morning

 

At 3:10 this morning Wilmington Firefighters on the A- platoon were alerted to a residential fire at 411 E. 8th Street. First arriving fire department units found heavy fire showing from the first floor of a two story end of the row residence. Crews stretched fire hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire on the first floor. Additional crews searched all levels of the residence, finding no one inside.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal’s Office is currently on scene conducting an origin and cause investigation. There is no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. The incident was placed under control at 3:50 by the Incident Commander, Battalion Chief Richard Danner. The Red Cross was contacted for 5 adult occupants and 3 children who were displaced because of the fire.

Approximately 30 fire and EMS personnel responded to the incident. The following units responded: Engine 2, Squirt 3, Engine 1, Squad 4, Ladder 1, Battalion-2, Battalion-1, FM-14, FM-18, St. Francis EMS, New Castle County Paramedics, Wilmington Licenses & Inspections, and Delmarva Power.
