Authorities Update Summit Bridge Double Motorcycle Crash

Last evening, at approximately 8:35, Wednesday, April 3, 2019, emergency crews responded to the 3700 block of Summit Bridge Road for a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

On arrival, emergency personnel found two patients that were motorcycle operators with injuries, said New Castle County Paramedic Senior Corporal Ruoy Koontz.

. Patient one, a 28-year-old male, was found in critical but stable condition with suspected head and abdominal injuries. Patient one was transported via an ambulance from Middletown Fire Company.

Patient two, a 38-year-old male, was found with lower extremity injuries and was later transported in stable condition via an ambulance from Aetna Fire Company. Both patients were accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics to Christiana Hospital. The incident is still under investigation by Delaware State Police.

Breaking Report

Middletown- Rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company, Newark, and Middletown have responded to the NB lanes of the Summit Bridge for a crash involving two motorcycles.

Early reports from the scene indicate that a motorcycle has struck another motorcycle at a high rate of speed injuring both riders.

One patient is being transported to the trauma center at Christian Hospital.

A second patient has suffered road rash injuries to their extremities.

The NB lanes of the Summit Bridge are currently closed on the south side of the bridge.
