Police: Ex-Husband Charged With Stabbing Wife To Death, Protective Order On File

New Castle County Police have released some details surrounding a stabbing death that occurred overnight.

This morning, April 23, at approximately 12:23 a.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Robinson Lane, in Maryland Park Apartments for reports of a stabbing.

Several patrol units arrived at the scene very quickly and located a victim who had several stab wounds to her upper torso. Lifesaving efforts were initiated; however, the victim was later pronounced deceased after being transported to an area hospital.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit Homicide Squad have identified the victim as 32-year-old Dimary Vasquez-Rolon.

They were able to identify a suspect, the woman’s ex-husband, 36-year-old Carlos Ferrer-Vasquez, who had fled the scene in a vehicle, officials said. After being contacted, Vasquez returned to the scene with an acquaintance and was immediately taken into custody and arrested.

He was charged with one count felony Murder First Degree Intentionally Caused Death of Another Person, on count felony Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, one count Criminal Contempt of a Domestic Violence Protective Order, and one count felony Possession or Control of a Deadly Weapon By Person Prohibited. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $275,000 cash-only bail.
