Man Killed In Delmarva Rollover Crash Saturday, Two Others Injured

One man was killed in an early Saturday morning crash near the Delaware State Line in Vienna, Maryland.

Police said 53-year-old Joseph Whipp from York, Pennsylvania was killed when his 2002 Toyota Tundra overturned just after 6:30 this morning.

When rescue crews first arrived on scene they reported that the pickup truck had rolled several times off the highway near a wooded area.

After accessing the situation, Command alerted Maryland State Police Aviation to be on standby, they were later recalled. Additional crews responding to the scene found a 44-year-old woman running back towards the Vienna Bridge.

The woman was contacted by medical crews and was later transported, along with an 11-year-old boy to Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) in Salisbury, Maryland.

Whipp, also transported to PRMC for his critical injuries was later pronounced dead, police said.

Crews aware that family dog had escaped during the accident found the pet near the bridge. The dog was turned over to animal control.

Maryland State Police are investigating.
