Garage Fire Leads To House Fire In Arden Monday Morning

Just before 6:00 this morning firefighters from the Talleyville Fire Company along with crews from the Claymont Fire Company responded to the 2300 block of Orchard Road for reports of a structure fire.

While en route crews learned that the caller was advising 911 dispatchers that the detached garage was on fire.

Upon his arrival, Claymont Fire Company Deputy 13 reported that the garage was fully involved and an ordered an upgrade to the response.

The upgrade brought additional crews from the Talleyville Fire Company, Brandywine Hundred Fire Company, and Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

As the additional firefighters made their way to the scene crews reported that the fire had extended to the residence. Firefighters from the Cranston Heights Fire Company were then dispatched to the scene to assist.

Shortly after the report that the fire had extended to the home crews reported that the bulk of the fire was knocked down and a search of the residence was negative. All occupants were out of the home.

As crews were bringing the incident under control their efforts were briefly impacted when a hose came loose. Crews quickly adjusted and at 6:32 Command placed both the garage fire and house fire under control with units remaining on scene cleaning up hotspots.

Officials with Delaware Fire Marshal’s Office, the American Red Cross, and Medics also responded to the scene.
