Police: Lewes Man Charged With Rape, Victim Under 12, Continuous Sexual Abuse Of A Child

Lewes- Police have arrested a Lewes man on six felony sexual assault-related counts, according to Chief of Police Thomas Spell.

Spell said on the morning of September 4th the Lewes Police Department arrested Timothy J. Delp, 55, of Lewes, Delaware after completing a month-long investigation into allegations of sex offenses involving a child victim.

Spell said Delp was formally arrested and charged with the following offenses:
Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person in a position of trust, authority or supervision in the 1st degree, a Class A Felony.
Rape in the 2nd Degree, Victim is less than 12 and the Defendant is 18 years or Older, a Class B Felony.
Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, a Class B Felony.
2 counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact in the 1st Degree, a Class D Felony.
Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class G Felony.

After being arraigned, Delp was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $162,000 cash bail said Spell.
