Just In: House Fire Displaces One Wednesday Morning

Just before 8:30 this morning firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company along crews from surrounding companies responded to Shetland Way in New Castle for reports that home was on fire.

Upon their arrival, crews reported smoke showing from a two-story townhome. As crews worked their way through the home crews reported that smoke was coming from the eaves of the home and the basement.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control after about ten minutes.

One adult was displaced as a result of the fire.

There are conflicting reports of the number of animals in the home at the time of the fire.

Radio reports indicated that three cats were in the home at the time of the fire, however, it’s unclear if they sustained injuries. A neighbor reports that a dog in the home was rescued by firefighters.

Fire marshals are on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

This is a developing story.
