Lewes Woman Involved In September Accident Succumbs To Her Injuries

Lewes- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a crash that has turned fatal, according to ton Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on September 25, 2019, at approximately 7:53 p.m., when a 2005 Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound on Lewes-Georgetown, Highway (U.S. 9) approaching the intersection of Nassau Commons Boulevard. A 2013 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was stopped eastbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway, attempting to turn left onto Nassau Commons Boulevard. For unknown reasons, the operator of the Caravan failed to see the pickup truck stopped. The front bumper of the Caravan struck the rear of the pickup truck.

The operator of the Caravan, 78-year-old Virginia F. Moore from Lewes, DE was properly restrained. She was transported to the Beebe Medical Center where she remained until she succumbed to her injuries on October 7, 2019.

The operator of the Toyota pickup truck, a 53-year-old male from Lewes, DE was properly restrained. He was transported to the Beebe Medical Center where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
