New Castle – Just before 8:00 this morning firefighters from the Minquadale fire Company along with crews from across New Castle County responding to a house fire in the unit block of Newport Avenue in West Minquadale.

Upon their arrival crews reported a working fire and began their attack while simultaneously conducting a search for victims. No one was found in the home.

Shortly after firefighters arrived on scene, Minquadale Command reported that two firefighters suffered minor burn injuries and would be transported to Christiana Hospital.

As the fire raged a column of heavy black smoke rose into the sky. As crews began to gain control of the fire the smoke turned into a large plume of white smoke.

At around 8:30 Minquadale Command placed the fire under control, with firefighters working to mop up hotspots.
