Just In: Authorities Investigating Overnight Fatal House Fire In Wilmington Manor

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating last night’s fatal house fire in New Castle, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the blaze, reported just before midnight, occurred in the unit block of Paul Road in the Chelsea Estates neighborhood near Basin Road. The Wilmington Manor Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames engulfing the two-story home. One victim found in the home was removed from the house by firefighters. New Castle County Paramedics and ambulance personnel rushed the victim to the Christiana Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

State fire investigators are on the scene searching for the fire’s origin and cause. A total of three adults and one child occupied the home prior to the discovery of the fire, said Chionchio.

In addition to the estimated at $200,000 in damage to the home,  the fire also damaged both neighboring homes.

This fire remains under investigation.
