Officials: Wilmington Police Catch Robbery Suspect In The Act

Wilmington Police have arrested a man after officers observed and interrupted a robbery in progress.

On March 13 at approximately 2:46 p.m. members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the unit block of Gordon Street when they observed a robbery in progress, according to authorities.

Officials said officers observed 25-year-old Phillip Battle engaged in a struggle with the operator of a vehicle and were able to take him into custody without incident. Through the course of their investigation, police determined that he had taken items from the driver of the vehicle during the incident.

Battle was charged with the following offenses:
Robbery (2nd degree)
Resisting Arrest
Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $7,000 secured bail.
