TRAFFIC ALERT – Nighttime Closure of Lewes Drawbridge for Repairs
Location: Lewes Drawbridge over Lewes-Rehoboth Canal between Savannah Road and Anglers Road, Lewes.
Times and Dates: 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. each night starting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020 until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020, pending weather
Traffic Information: DelDOT announces to motorists that the repairs of the drawbridge will require the nighttime closure of the bridge.
Detour Routes:
Motorists traveling eastbound on Savannah Road will turn right onto Kings Highway, turn left on Monroe Avenue, left onto Theodore C. Freeman Highway, then left on Cape Henlopen Drive and left to East Savannah Road.
Motorists traveling westbound from Savannah Road will turn right on Henlopen Drive, then right to Theodore C. Freeman Highway, right onto Kings Highway and continue to Savannah Road.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
Savannah Road Pedestrian/Cyclists Shuttle Plan
During the nighttime closure, DelDOT’s contractor will provide a pedestrian/cyclists shuttle service approximately every 30 minutes.
The pick-up/drop-off locations will be at the Fishermans’s Wharf parking area at the corner of Anglers Road and Savannah Road, and the 1812 Memorial Park parking lot.
