Triple Shooting In Elkton Leads To Hours-Long Standoff, Few Details Released

Elkton, Maryland – Three people, including a seven-year-old boy, were shot in Hollingsworth Manor Monday afternoon, police said.

Police responded to the small neighborhood that sits along Route 40 on the southwest side of Elkton after receiving reports of gunfire.

Shortly after officers arrived on scene medical crews were dispatched at around 3:00 pm. While en route, medics learned that three people were shot, including a child.

Police say a 25-year-old man was shot in the back and a 7-year-old boy was shot in the knee, they were both transported to Delaware hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A 31-year-old woman was also shot in the foot, she refused transport after being treated by medics at the scene.

The incident lead to an hours-long standoff with at least one subject barricaded in a nearby home, police giving the all-clear at around 10:15 Monday night.

Elkton Police were assisted by the Cecil County Sheriff Office and the Maryland State Police.

Elkton, Maryland – Just before 3:00 Monday afternoon Cecil County fire and police responded to Huntsman Drive in Hollingsworth Manor for reports of a shooting.

Two sources tell First State Update that three people have been shot. Initial radio reports indicate at least two have been injured. At least one of the victims is a child.

Police have closed the roads in the area and have set up a command post nearby. The scene is active. Avoid the area.
