Troopers: Man Charged With Promoting Prostitution At Georgetown Brothel

Georgetown- The Delaware State Police arrested 33-year-old ISMEAL AYALA for promoting prostitution following an investigation into a commercial sex ring, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said over the past two weeks, DSP Troop 4, Major Crimes Unit and DSP Intelligence have been investigating a suspected Hispanic brothel located at a residence in the 28000 block of Shortly Road in Georgetown. Through further investigations, it was learned that a large scale commercial sex ring was operating at this residence, according to Jaffe.

On July 14, 2020, Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit with support from DSP Intel, Troop 4 Governor’s Task Force (GTF) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence. Two Hispanic female victims were contacted at the residence. A search of the property revealed obvious signs of a commercial sex operation and approximately $1700.00 in suspected illegal proceeds were located.

Ayala was taken into custody at the residence without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

Promoting Prostitution Second Degree (Felony)
Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $16000.00 cash only bond.

Jaffe said due to the nature and sensitivity of this case, and in consideration of the victims, only limited information will be released. Both victims received assistance from Victim Services.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.  There are potentially other suspects who may have participated in the running of the brothel, according to Jaffe.
