Dover Murder Suspect Captured By Federal Marshal’s Service In Virginia

United States Marshals Service has arrest of Tysheen Maxwell, 25, in connection with the July 6, 2020 murder of Thomas Gilbert, according to Dover Police Sergeant Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

The Dover Police Department began investigating the shooting death of Gilbert, 32, at approximately 2:48 that Monday morning. Officers responded to a vacant lot in the 100 Block of S. New Street for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers located Gilbert, who was struck multiple times by gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Hoffman said Maxwell was developed as a suspect during the investigation and was apprehended on July 24th, 2020 in Newport News, Virginia without incident. He remains in custody pending extradition back to Delaware on the following charges:

-Murder 1st Degree
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony
