Daily Veg Has Arrived On Main Street In Newark!

Delaware’s fastest-growing and most hyped vegan restaurants, Daily Veg, opened their second Delaware location on Main Street in Newark in July.

Daily Veg has introduced delicious vegan food, already a hot trend within many big cities, onto Main Street, Newark and the University of Delaware students by featuring a menu that is both affordable and approachable, and emphasizes the nutritional benefits and healing powers of whole living plant-based food.

In addition to vegan staples like the well-known Beyond and Impossible Burgers (jazzed up in offerings like our new Vegan Pretzel Crunch Burgers and Big MCK), guests will find new and inventive menu options including breakfast fare like the “Acai Blue Chia”, “Tofu Scramble” and “Passionfruit Bowl.”

“ As a wellness professional, entrepreneur, and mom, there is nothing more comforting to know that my family can have some vegan comfort food from Daily Veg for dinner on a busy day. It satisfies the vegan soul. YUM!” – Julianne McElroy

Daily Veg founder Dan Mckelvey grew up on a small dairy and produce farm in Central, NY, and has always been passionate about proper nutrition through fruits and vegetables. Dan moved out West in 2006 and began juicing and making smoothies as part of his diet. Later, while traveling around California in 2008, he sampled local acai shops. That is where he first discovered The Acai Bowl, a bowl of frozen pureed acai berries topped with granola and a variety of fresh fruits and superfoods. Needless to say, it was love at first bite.

After opening Raw Essential, a juice bar in Baltimore, MD, Dan realized that his heart was truly invested in creating a 100% plant-based restaurant. With that idea, the Daily Veg was born. Daily Veg still offers some amazing acai bowls and smoothies but has also expanded its menu to offer more hearty plant-based meal options.

Daily Veg is very active on their various social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram and plans to become active within the community as well with ideas such as vegan food festivals, a food truck available for events and catering, and franchise opportunities (available in 2021).

Daily Veg is looking for people to join their team. If plant-based is your passion, visit dailyveg.com for career opportunities.

The Daily Veg Newark location will be open seven days a week and offers indoor seating. Daily Veg will be taking over the place of the former Jimmy John’s restaurant on Main St. located between Academy and Haines Streets.

Their initial Delaware location opened in Hockessin back in 2018.
