Rider Miscalculates As He Evades State Police In Middletown

Middletown – Just before 10:00 Wednesday morning, a State Police Trooper on patrol radioed dispatch alerting them that he was in pursuit of a motorcycle.

With sirens in the background, the Trooper could be heard advising dispatchers that the subject on the bike was being stopped in furtherance of an ongoing investigation.

The motorcycle, with Maryland plates, continued to evade the Trooper. As the chase made its way onto Bethel Church Road and just as additional backup was arriving the motorcycle crashed.

With slick roads and an unanticipated roundabout, the rider lost control and ended up in the grass near the intersection of Bethel Church Road and Choptank Road.

Shortly after the crash, a Trooper reported that the subject was in custody.  Although medical crews were dispatched to the scene it’s not clear if the rider suffered and serious injuries.

Police declined to say why they were attempting to stop the man.
