9-Month-Old, Father Shot In New Castle Wednesday

Last evening, Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Rose Lane, in the community of Rosegate for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

When the officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man and his 9-month-old son both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local area hospital. The child is listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to the upper body. His father is also being treated for a gunshot wound to the lower torso.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on scene and assumed the investigation. The detectives learned that the victim and his two sons were seated in a parked vehicle on Rose Lane, when the vehicle was struck multiple times by gunfire. A two-year-old boy who was also in the vehicle was not struck.

Anyone with information and/or video pertaining to this investigation is asked to contact Det. DiNardo at 302-395-8110 or by e-mail at [email protected] or by calling the New Castle County Division of Police non-emergency number at 302-573-2800.

Correction: An earlier headline stated that the two-year-old was shot. That was an error. The 9-month-old was the child that was shot.
