Fire Rips Through Sussex County Watering Hole Overnight

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a building fire that heavily damaged a structure in Greenwood, Delaware early Tuesday,  according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska.

Galaska said the fire, reported shortly after 3:00 A.M., occurred to the structure in the first block of West Market Street,  The Pit Stop Bar and Grill. The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company along with other area fire companies arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from the structure.

 

State fire investigators were called to the scene and are performing an investigation to determine the fire’s origin and cause, said Galaska.

One firefighter was transported from the scene for minor injuries, added Galaska. Fire damage is estimated at $500,000.
