Delaware State Police are experiencing a shortfall in the number of Troopers that are required to keep the state safe according to sources in the agency.
Insiders tell FSU that DSP is “stretched to the limit” with trooper retirements skyrocketing. Leaked reports indicate that the normal annual 1700 applications to become a trooper have dropped below 400 this cycle.
With crime in the state up as much as 40%, it is unclear how the shortfall will affect policing in the region.
DSP is reportedly considering doing away with School Resource Officers to help fill the shortfall, according to our sources.
