Townsend Crash Injures Two Saturday Night, One Trapped

Just after 9:00 Saturday evening rescue crews from the Townsend Fire Company and New Castle County Paramedics along with Delaware State Police and Trooper 4 were dispatched to Route 13 and Blackbird Landing Road for a motor vehicle accident.

While en route, crews learned that one of the drivers was trapped in their vehicle as a result of the crash. Upon arrival, Command confirmed that one patient was heavily trapped. Crews immediately began working to free the male patient.

After several minutes the driver was freed and packaged for transport by emergency medical crews. He was then placed on Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 for transport to Christiana Hospital. The patient was in serious condition.

The male driver of the second vehicle was transported to Christiana Hospital with undetermined injuries. Animal control was also dispatched to the scene to take custody of three pets that were involved in the accident.

Route 13 was closed while the scene was investigated and cleared.
