Officials Update Townsend Accident That Sent Three To Hospital, One By Air

At approximately 3:25 pm, on Saturday afternoon New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), Kent County Paramedics, Townsend Fire Company, Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, Odessa Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the intersection of Summit Bridge Road and Pine Tree Road for a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment, according to NCCEMS Assistant PIO Oliver Kocher.

Kocher said responding units advised of three patients, one trapped. Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found three patients as follows.

1. 20-year-old female, with injuries to her head, and with suspected internal injuries. The patient was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and was transported to Christiana Hospital via Delaware State Police Aviation Helicopter. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport.

2. 31-year-old male with injuries to his extremities and suspected internal injuries. The patient was treated on-scene by New Castle and Kent County paramedics and was transported to Christiana Hospital via Odessa Fire Company ambulance accompanied by Kent County Paramedics. The patient was in serious condition at time of transport.

3. 62-year-old male with injuries to his extremities. The patient was treated on-scene by New Castle and Kent County paramedics and was transported to Christiana Hospital via Volunteer Hose
Company ambulance accompanied by Kent County Paramedics. The patient was in stable condition at time of transport.

Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
