Wilmington Manor Crash Sends Five To Hospital, One By Air

At approximately 3:03 p.m., the New Castle County Paramedics, along with the Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Delaware Air Guard Fire Department, Minquadale Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company of New Castle, Five Points Fire Company, and Christiana Fire Company, were dispatched to Route 13 northbound at Franklin Avenue in New Castle for the report of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

New Castle County Paramedics Public Information Officer Senior Sergeant Abigail Haas said first arriving fire department units arrived on scene to find two sedans that had collided, trapping three persons inside. Fire and Rescue crews worked for approximately 10 minutes to free all three.

Five total patients were transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, their conditions are as follows:
• An approximately 30-year-old male passenger was treated on scene by the New Castle County Paramedics for head, extremity, and possible internal injuries before he was flown aboard Delaware State Police helicopter in critical condition.
• An approximately 25-year-old male passenger was treated by the New Castle County Paramedics for extremity and possible internal injuries. He was in critical condition at the time of transport.
• An approximately 50-year-old male driver was treated by the New Castle County Paramedics for a head injury. He was in critical condition at the time of transport.
• 2 additional patients were transported to the hospital by basic life support (BLS) ambulance only.

The Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
