Fire At New Castle Motel Leaves Woman In Critical Condition Early Tuesday

At approximately 3:50 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Delaware Air Guard Fire Department, Holloway Terrace Fire Company, Five Points Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company of Newport, Christiana Fire Company, and Good Will Fire Company of New Castle were dispatched to the Quality Inn Motel at 147 North Dupont Highway for reports of a structure fire with entrapment.

NCCEMS Public Information Officer Senior Sergeant Abigail Haas said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found a single patient who had been removed from the building by firefighters. A 53-year-old female was treated for major burns and smoke inhalation. She was transported to Christiana Hospital via Christiana Fire Company ambulance, accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics, in critical condition.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the scene.
