Dewey Beach Police Release Information Regarding Large Fight Saturday

On June 4, 2022, at approximately 11:40 P.M. the Dewey Beach Police responded to the area of 23 Saulsbury St. for a report of gunshots.

A Delaware Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement Agent (DATE) was in the area and reported hearing the gunshots and observed a muzzle flash. When the DATE Agent arrived on the scene, he and several Dewey Beach police officers placed multiple males, in there mid twenties, into custody.

It was determined that the male suspects, all from Pennsylvania, were engaged in a large fight with other unknown males who immediately fled the scene. All suspects were transported to the Dewey Beach Police Department for questioning.

Police said the Starboard restaurant was not directly involved in this incident, contrary to social media reports. Police added that The Starboard restaurant, which was almost to capacity, immediately implement its security protocols and activated a “shelter in place” for its patrons and employees.

This incident is currently under investigation and there are no report of injuries. No fire arms were recovered from the scene. All suspects were released from the Dewey Beach Police Department and are currently cooperating with investigators.
