Wilmington House Fire Under Investigation

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is currently investigating a fire that occurred on the night of July 4, 2023, severely damaging a house in Wilmington.

The Assistant State Fire Marshal, Michael Chionchio, said investigators responded to the incident and are actively working to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire.

The Talleyville Fire Company received a 9-1-1 call at around 11:30 pm, alerting them to the fire in the 100 block of West Pembrey Drive, located near Foulk Road in Wilmington. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene, where they found flames engulfing the house. Talleyville was assisted by area fire companies at the scene.

Chionchio said deputy fire marshals have initiated an investigation to uncover the cause of the fire.

Preliminary estimates suggest that the fire caused extensive damage, with an estimated value of $200,000. There were no reported injuries resulting from the fire.
