Fire Destroys Camper At Georgetown Campground Early Sunday

At 1:14 Sunday morning, emergency responders from several fire companies were dispatched to a camper trailer fire at the Homestead Campground, located at 25165 Prettyman Road in Georgetown.

The dispatched units included firefighters and rescue crews from Georgetown, Lewes, Milton, and the Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad.

While en route to the campground, crews learned that the camper trailer was fully involved and that there were propane tanks nearby.

The fire was quickly extinguished but not before the structure was completely destroyed. All occupants of the camper trailer were accounted for and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Crews remained on the scene for over an hour, not only extinguishing the fire but also performing necessary overhaul operations to mop up hot spots.
