Bicyclist Airlifted To Trauma Center Tuesday Morning

On Tuesday morning at 10:46, a traffic collision occurred on Coastal Highway, just south of the Indian Inlet Bridge, near Matt’s Fish Camp in Bethany Beach. This incident involved a vehicle and a bicyclist, prompting a response from local emergency services.

Rescue crews from the Bethany Beach Fire Company, Sussex County Paramedics, and LifeNet arrived at the scene, to find a male bicyclist suffering from injuries sustained in the crash. The man, reported to be in very serious condition, received immediate medical attention at the scene prior to being airlifted.

Due to the serious nature of the bicyclist’s injuries, he is currently en route via LifeNet 64 to the trauma center in New Castle County.

To ensure the safety of all parties involved and facilitate the response efforts, Coastal Highway had to be temporarily closed, causing minor disruptions in the area. The local police are currently investigating the accident.
