Shooting In Lewes Leads To Area Search, One To Hospital

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Lewes Sunday evening.

Just after 6:00 emergency responders from the Lewes Fire Department and Sussex County Paramedics Medics were called to the 300 block of Maple Court, located within the Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park for reports of a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

In addition to the emergency crews, there was a substantial police presence from multiple agencies, including the Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2 who responded to the scene. While medical crews were assisting the patient, authorities were conducting a search of the area for possible suspects.

The critically injured patient was transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes by Lewes Fire Department ambulance, accompanied by Sussex County Paramedics.

Reports suggest that one individual was detained near the scene. However, law enforcement authorities have not said if that detainment is related to the shooting incident. It remains unclear whether there were any additional detentions or arrests made in connection with this incident.

This story will be updated when police release additional details.
