Man Injured In Saturday Accident Succumbs To Injuries In Hospital

Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Saturday night in Felton, claiming the life of a 60-year-old Dover resident.

On February 10, 2024, at approximately 8:38 p.m., a Nissan Versa was traveling southbound on Firetower Road, just north of Berrytown Road, when it veered off the west edge of the roadway after failing to negotiate a curve. The vehicle continued in a southern direction before colliding with a tree.

The investigation suggests alcohol was involved, and the driver, identified as Steven Satterfield, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Satterfield was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. On February 11, 2024, he died from injuries sustained during the crash.

The roadway was temporarily closed for approximately 2.5 hours as investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.
