Man Reportedly Stabbed Near Maryland Avenue

Correction: the initial story reported that the stabbing occurred late Tuesday and actually occurred early Wednesday morning and or state police investigate the case not New Castle County.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the Sunoco gas station located at 1950 Maryland Avenue in Wilmington.

At 12:54 Five Points Fire Company, New Castle County Paramedics, and Police officers responded following reports of a stabbing.

While en route crews learned that a male in his 30s had been stabbed and the assailant was still on scene. Crews also learned that the incident was across the street from the Sunoco on Clayton Road and that CPR was ongoing.

The patient was transported to the trauma center reportedly with a stab wound to the upper torso. His injuries were very serious at the time of transport.

It’s not clear if an arrest was made in connection to this incident.

Residents in the neighborhood tell FSU that the police removed the police tape and left the neighborhood at around 10:00 this morning.
